While there is always a comforting sense of familiarity when we see SRK-Kajol or Ranbir-Katrina romancing one another onscreen, it is quite interesting to see big stars paired opposite each other for the very first time. 2015 promises a whole lot of these – and these 10 are by far the hottest ones to watch out for.
1. John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in ‘Rocky Handsome’
Shruti Haasan, whose last Bollywood movie ‘D-Day’ earned her an IIFA nomination for Best Supporting Actress, will be playing John Abraham’s wife in the upcoming action-thriller. John’s obvious good looks and Haasan’s demure ones will be quite interesting to see together as this remake of the 2010 Korean flick ‘The Man From Nowhere’ releases February 6.
2. Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Tevar’
He is the eternal brash young hero; she the damsel in distress – and both of them are looking superb together in the soon-to-be released ‘Tevar’. A remake of the 2003 Telegu flick ‘Okkadu’ which has already been remade thrice in Tamil, Kannada and Bengali, ‘Tevar’ releases January 9.
3. Ranbir Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez in ‘Roy’
While Arjun Rampal is also a part of the love triangle in this upcoming romantic thriller, we are more interested to see Ranbir with Jacqueline. Frankly, we think it is quite an upgrade for the Sri Lankan beauty to be paired with an actor of Ranbir Kapoor’s caliber, as she has not quite proved herself as a performer till now. Guess we’ll have to wait till February 13 to find out.
4. Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in ‘Bombay Velvet’
An Anurag Kashyap movie is always worth the watch – and ‘Bombay Velvet’ more so, because we cannot wait to find out how Ranbir and Anushka’s chemistry will be like! Set in Bombay in the sixties, Ranbir plays a street-fighter and Anushka a jazz singer. Based on the book ‘Bombay Fables’ by Gyan Prakash, the neo-noir drama will release on May 15.
5. Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in ‘Phantom’
Even though Saif and Kaif were previously seen together in ‘Race’, they were not really romancing each other in the movie. In this coming counter-terrorism drama, both of them have been cast opposite one another as secret agents – and there’s going to be a lot of action in it. Literally. ‘Phantom’ is scheduled for an April 3 release.
6. Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in ‘ABCD 2’
Sequel to the 2013 dance film ‘ABCD: Any Body Can Dance’, ‘ABCD 2’ will have a new leading pair in the form of Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Both new stars have had immense success in the past year – with ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Haider’ respectively, and they will star opposite each other for the first time. Let’s see if their chemistry makes this sequel (releasing February 8) more successful than the first movie.
7. Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadda in ‘Main Aur Charles’
We are keeping our eyes peeled for this Charles Sobraj biopic – and think Randeep Hooda is going to make a brilliant ‘Bikini Killer’. Hooda and Richa Chadda’s pair might not be a huge deal next to the big stars, but both of them are amazing earthy performers who are sure to make for a great watch when this crime thriller releases on March 15.
8. Tusshar Kapoor and Sunny Leone in ‘Mastizaade’
Mastizaade’ is a sex comedy with Sunny Leone playing a double role and also romancing Vir Das. Tusshar Kapoor apparently had such a ‘lovely experience’ working with Leone that he has been quoted as saying that ‘she is the number one actress in Bollywood’. We kid you not.
9. Varun Dhawan and Yami Gautam in ‘Badlapur’
With ‘Badlapur’, Varun Dhawan will be proving to his critics that he is so much more than a chocolate boy and romantic hero. And his fierce bearded avatar will be quite a foil to Yami Gautam’s pristine quiet beauty. No doubt, Dhawan will have the limelight focused solely on him – but we still think it’s a pair worth watching out for.
10. Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in ‘Shamitabh’
After being paired opposite Shruti Haasan in the Tamil movie ‘3’, Dhanush is all set to now to romance her younger sister Akshara who is making her acting debut in ‘Shamitabh’. It is easily one of the most awaited movies of 2015, and we cannot wait to see these two South Indian stars together onscreen. (Source)
